Nightfall (2022) belongs to Almond’s recent body of paintings devoted to the poetics of time and luminosity. Comprising eight linen panels, the work layers gold and acrylic pigments over a deep indigo ground, forming rhythmic constellations of light and structure. The shimmering metallic tones shift with the viewer’s movement, embodying the cyclical pulse of time and nature. Here, abstraction becomes a temporal field—each mark recording both the passage and suspension of light—continuing Almond’s long-standing inquiry into how duration, rhythm, and perception intertwine within the act of seeing.
