Marc Desgrandchamps (b. 1960, Lyon, France) is a leading figure in contemporary French painting, known for his exploration of transparency, layering, and the passage of time. His works oscillate between figuration and abstraction, constructing poetic spaces from fragmented bodies and shifting perspectives. Drawing from cinema, photography, art history, and literature, Desgrandchamps paints what he calls “a painting of doubt”—doubt of the figure, of presence, even of painting itself.
